Sohail spooked by supernatural presence

Pakistani batsman reportedly 'traumatised' during hotel stay in Christchurch

First it was Shane Watson, then Stuart Broad, and now the supernatural spookiness has overcome Pakistani cricket Haris Sohail during his side’s tour of New Zealand.

Sohail, 26, was awoken during the night in the Rydges Latimer Christchurch Hotel by what he believed was a ghost pushing him, according to a report from New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME).

He then contacted team management who came to his aid and discovered he had a high fever, before they arranged for him to change rooms.

Sources also say that since the incident, Sohail has not trained with the team as they prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup with a series of warm-up matches.

"He's not trained for two days because he's so traumatised,” the source told NZME. “He's pretty freaked out."

A spokesman for Rydges Latimer Christchurch last night said there was "no active ghost".

"It's hard to believe," the spokesman said. "They (Pakistan management) told me it was only a nightmare.

"I spoke with a team physiotherapist and other people on the team.

"He (Sohail) didn't come to me but they wanted him to move rooms.

"He's been sleeping in another room for about two night now."

The story comes just six months after England paceman Broad complained about a supernatural presence in a central London hotel during his side’s Test series against India.

Back in 2005, a young Watson also suffered sleepless nights while the Australian team stayed at London’s Lumley Castle, relocating to reside on the floor of Brett Lee’s room after being spooked in his own room.
