Career-best ranking for Smith while Warner closes in on the world's top two batsmen after dominant series

Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood have all claimed career-high one-day rankings while David Warner is closing in on top spot in the batting charts following Australia's ODI series whitewash against New Zealand.

Warner's 299 runs across the three matches – an Australian record – saw him strengthen his place at No.3 in the International Cricket Council's batting rankings, moving to within two points of second-ranked Virat Kohli, and just 15 points shy of the world's top ODI batsman, AB de Villiers.

Warner continues red-hot form

Despite being dismissed for a duck in Friday's third ODI in Melbourne, Smith's first two knocks of 164 and 72 were enough for him climb into the top 10 ODI batsmen for the first time, up six spots.

Marsh also made a leap with the bat, climbing three places to rise to 22nd position, while in the bowling charts Hazlewood vaulted 12 places to 11th spot after taking six wickets across the series.

Quick single: Aussies out to the carry on momentum

Returning paceman Pat Cummins was rewarded after finishing as the series leading wicket-taker, returning to the rankings in 47th position, while James Faulkner climbed up two places to 23rd.

For New Zealand, Martin Guptill was the biggest winner, moving into sixth position after scoring 193 runs across his three innings.

Australia's 3-0 series win saw them increase their lead at the top of the ODI rankings by two points, to sit four points clear of second-ranked South Africa.
