Former Southern Stars batter Jess Cameron has returned to the MCG in sparkling fashion
Cameron stars in football debut on MCG
Former Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars batter Jess Cameron has had a field day on the MCG, but this time without a bat in sight.
Cameron debuted for the Melbourne Demons in an Australian Football League womenβs exhibition match and was best-on-ground, booting six goals and dominating from start to finish.
The Victorian recently signed a state cricket contract after a six month hiatus from the sport, but will continue to explore footballing options concurrently.
Quick Single: Cameron confirms return to cricket
"Obviously, I'm playing at the pinnacle of the AFL at the moment and I'm pretty lucky with where I've been and what I've got to see," Cameron told afl.com.au.
Of her six goals on the hallowed turf of the MCG, she said she had another comparable memory that stands out on ground where she played for both her state and national cricket sides.
"I hit a six straight down the ground and I was pretty impressed with that.β
The 26-year-old opted to wear the number 11 guernsey for her adopted club, diverging from the usual number 27 she wore for the Southern Stars in 114 matches.

Cameron will look to emulate former teammate and dual-international Ellyse Perry in having an active hand in two sports, with Perry representing her country in both cricket and soccer.
"I was pretty excited about it to be honest. I was like yes, finally I can play both at a level that you keep inspiring yourself to play because itβs at that top level,"Cameron told NewsCorp earlier this year.
"I know that when (Perry) went through that stage of soccer saying no, I thought it might be a bit hard, but I think the AFL has gone about it the right way."

Cameron has already played three Tests, 50 One-Day Internationals and 64 T20 Internationals for the Southern Stars, including their successful World T20 campaigns in 2012 and 2014 and more recently their Ashes series win in the UK last year.
It is yet to be confirmed if Cameron will play in WBBL|02 after being signed to the inaugural Perth Scorchers side before her extended break last year.
Cameron's former Southern Stars teammates were quick to congratulate her following the match.
