India prizewinner joins #GoGold army

His visa worries behind him, Jignesh Sanghrajka will support Australia after India's exit

His beloved team India are already back home, but for India fan Jignesh Sanghrajka, the World Cup final is a golden opportunity to fall in love with a new team.

Jignesh was the Indian fan who made international headlines after winning a competition to be flown to Australia on an all-expenses paid trip for the World Cup final, only to be denied a visa to get into the country.

That oversight was quickly remedied as despair turned to elation and Jignesh and his brother Mehul were on their way to Australia. By the time they had arrived, however, India had been eliminated by Australia at the semi-final stage in an SCG classic.

"We were getting live score updates on the plane ride over," Jignesh told 3AW after landing at Melbourne Airport.

With the home side to face the Black Caps in the World Cup final tomorrow, Jignesh was under no illusions who he would be supporting when cricket.com.au caught up with him on Saturday.

"I am super excited to be here, there are no words to describe it," Jignesh told cricket.com.au

"It is amazing to be able to be here for the World Cup final and all of these experiences are going to make for great memories.

"The final will be a great moment to experience and I hope that Australia take the home ground advantage and lift the trophy.

"It is going to be Aussie Aussie Aussie for us tomorrow."
