England and Australia's Ashes series is over, and there's plenty of photos coming through on social media

England have started their Ashes celebrations in earnest, and the Australians have joined them in their change room.

Recap & highlights: Australia send Pup, Bucky off in style

James Anderson mischievously had a sly dig at the Australian team after England were left to drink alone following the first Test, with the Australians explaining their custom was to visit opposition rooms after a series had been decided.

Australia won the fifth and final Ashes Test in convincing fashion – the final margin an innings and 46 runs – to send off retirees Michael Clarke and Chris Rogers in style.

However, England claimed the series with a 3-2 result thanks to victories at Cardiff's Sophia Gardens, Edgbaston and Trent Bridge.

England's man of the series, Joe Root posted a photo with David Warner from inside the England rooms, both players raising a fist in mock reference to their bar-room bust up ahead of the 2013 series in Birmingham.

That altercation saw Warner exiled to the Australia A tour in Africa and missing the first two Tests of the series.

ANNOUNCED: The player of the Ashes

It proved a turning point of sorts in Warner's career however, with the opener averaging above 51 and scoring nine of his 12 career centuries since.

Above a picture of himself bumping fists with Warner, Root tweeted: "Very good of the Aussie lads to come across for a drink and enjoy whats been a great series #rumbleintheashes."

Warner responded by tweeting: "Was a great series, well done England!! #ashes2015"

Root finished as England's top scorer in the series with 460 runs at an average of 57, while Warner scored 418 runs at 46.
