Both Hazlewood and Cummins have played two World Cup matches.

Hazlewood finished with 0-45 off 6.5 overs in Australia’s win over England in the tournament-opener and after being left out of the loss to New Zealand, the New South Welshman claimed 2-25 off 8 overs against Afghanistan.

Cummins was given his first World Cup assignment against New Zealand and took 2-38 off 6.1 overs and then claimed three wickets (3-42 from 7 overs) in Australia’s win over Scotland in Hobart last weekend.

Hazlewood admitted in a radio interview this week it’s been hard, at times, not knowing whether the National Selection Panel would opt for him or Cummins in the line-up.

“It’s going to happen in a team sport like this, you are going to be in and out at different stages in your career,” Hazlewood told SEN Radio.

“Having a good depth of bowlers is a good thing in one way but when you’re not sure you’re playing it can weigh on your mind a little bit.”
