KP blasts second successive ton

Former England batsman continues his excellent form ahead of his second Stars stint

Kevin Pietersen has continued his blistering form ahead of the KFC Big Bash League season, smashing a second successive unbeaten ton in South Africa's domestic T20 competition.

Playing for the Sunfoil Dolphins, Pietersen hit seven sixes on his way to an unbeaten 100 off just 45 balls as the Dolphins strolled to a nine wicket win with 20 balls to spare.

The exiled England batsman came in at No.3 with the Dolphins 1-35 and made an impact almost immediately, scoring a boundary off his third ball.

Quick single: KP tunes out for Stars stint with big ton

His half-century came off 27 balls before he upped the ante, taking just 18 more balls to reach triple figures.

Pietersen will appear in two more games for the Dolphins before heading to Australia for his second season with the Melbourne Stars.

It was his second speedy century in three days, after the exiled England batsman smashed 115 not out from 66 deliveries on Wednesday.

"He is in the form of his life," Dolphins coach Lance Klusener told dolphinscricket.co.za after the match.

"Back-to-back T20 hundreds is an amazing feat and when a player is hitting the ball that sweetly it is difficult for any opposition to play against it."

The right-hander was the Stars' leading run-scorer in BBL|04, producing 293 runs at 42 with three half-centuries.

Pietersen will join countryman Luke Wright, allrounders James Faulkner and Glenn Maxwell and captain David Hussey at the Stars this summer, who will begin their campaign against the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval on December 18.
