Nicholas suffers a second health scare

Wide World of Sports commentator again stretchered out of MCG

Channel Nine commentator Mark Nicholas has been taken from the MCG by medical staff for the second time in three days due to abdominal pains.

The Englishman fell ill on the opening day of this Boxing Day Test and was taken to a local medical facility, before being discharged later that night.

He was ordered to rest yesterday and did not commentate on day two of the match, but returned this morning to continue his role leading Nine's coverage.

But during the final session, Nicholas was again taken away by medical staff and transported to the local Epworth Hospital.

Nicholas had interviewed Pakistan legend Wasim Akram during the tea break, but fell ill a short time later.

Nicholas was conscious but in some pain and Channel Nine are expected to release a statement on his condition shortly.

"Unfortunately Mark has taken ill again," said a Nine spokesperson. "He has been transported back to hospital for further tests."
