Glenn Maxwell and Chris Lynn impressed ahead of their departure for Sri Lanka with Australia's T20 squad
Maxwell, Lynn power Aus A to big win
Australia T20 squad members Glenn Maxwell and Chris Lynn have produced ominous displays with the bat to lead Australia A to an eight-wicket victory over South Africa A in Mackay.
The pair – who will now leave the Australia A squad and fly to Sri Lanka for next month's two-match T20 series – produced an action-packed unbeaten 104-run partnership to chase down South Africa's 134 with ease at Harrup Park.
The Proteas gave themselves faint hopes of defending the below-par total when Australia A lost openers Kurtis Patterson (11) and Marcus Stoinis (18), but Lynn and Maxwell immediately went on the attack.
Lynn reached his half-century shortly before scoring the winning runs to finish unbeaten on 56 from 51 deliveries.
Maxwell was denied a fifty, but produced one six and seven fours his 31-ball 46 not out.
Crucially, Lynn and Maxwell's speedy chase earned their team a bonus point, moving them to second on the Quadrangular A series table with one game remaining against India A on Tuesday.
Earlier, Victoria quick Chris Tremain handed Australia A a dream start when he dismissed South Africa A captain Heino Kuhn with the second ball of the match.
Khaya Zondo (40) was the only South Africa batsman to produce a significant score, as Tremain (2-26) and Kane Richardson (2-11) made key strikes before leg-spinner Cameron Boyce (4-21) cleaned up the tail.
