Towering quick Mackin took 5-33 and Short bashed a maiden ton to fire the Warriors to the tournament's decider
Match Report:
ScorecardMackin, Short lead WA rout over CA XI
Western Australia allrounder D'Arcy Short has plundered his maiden ton at domestic level, helping the Warriors warm up for Saturday's JLT One-Day Cup final with a clinical nine-wicket win over the Cricket Australia XI.
WA paceman Simon Mackin snared five wickets as the CA XI posted a total of 179 at North Sydney Oval.
It was never going to be enough.
The Warriors needed just 30.2 overs to reel in the target. The table toppers have progressed directly to this weekend's final in Hobart.
Short and Hilton Cartwright, the incumbent Test No.6 batsman, shared a 109-run stand after they were promoted to open ahead of Shaun Marsh and Michael Klinger.
Cartwright scored 34 but Short was the star, smashing his fifth and sixth sixes off consecutive balls to finish the game in emphatic fashion.
Mackin finished with figures of 5-33. Andrew Tye, recalled to WA's XI after playing for Australia during the Twenty20 series in India, picked up two wickets.
The match was played on a more-placid pitch than the dangerous deck that led to Sunday's fixture at the same venue being abandoned mid-chase.
