Brisbane Heat openers put on a century opening stand to chase down the Strikers’ 5-139 in just 15 overs

Match in a tweet: Mooney bludgeons the Strikers attack as the Heat record a comprehensive victory to keep their finals hopes alive

The score: Adelaide Strikers 5-139 (Beaumont 50) in 20 overs lost to Brisbane Heat 1-142 (Mooney 75 no) in 15 overs by nine wickets

The hero: Chasing 140 for victory Beth Mooney decided to launch into the Strikers attack right from the outset. The left-hander hit the ball over the top and along the ground with precision to get Heat off to rocketing start. Her exquisite timing and her ability to play all around the wicket was a feature of her unbeaten knock of 75 from 47 balls.  Mooney hit an incredible 12 fours and a massive six to notch up her highest score of the tournament.

The support cast: Kirby Short's innings of 42 from 31 balls at the top order alongside Mooney demoralised the Strikers. The right-hander was in devastating form smashing seven fours as she combined to put on 101 from 67 balls to set-up a commanding victory for the Heat.

The consolation act: It has not been the most productive tournament for Tammy Beaumont but the English import finally found her groove hitting a breezy 50 from 42 balls. Batting at No.4, Beaumont played a pivotal role in resurrecting the Strikers’ innings from 5-52 to 5-139. Beaumont showed her class by executing numerous reverse sweeps along with her more conventional shots to notch up her highest score of the tournament.
