Record stand spurs Delhi past Mumbai

Ricky Ponting's Mumbai Indians suffer another loss as Shreyas Iyer and JP Duminy thrive in Delhi

Delhi Daredevils have broken their nine match winless run at their home ground with a comfortable 37-run win over Mumbai Indians.

Shreyas Iyer and JP Duminy shared a 154-run stand after Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma had won the toss and elected to bowl first, with the duo finishing on 83 and 78 not out respectively in the highest partnership of this year's tournament.

After Mitchell McClenaghan dismissed opener Mayank Agarwal for 1, Mumbai chased leather for the rest of the innings as Iyer and Duminy got into their work.

The introduction of Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh manage to stem the flow of runs, but the rest of Mumbai's attack was treated with disdain before Iyer was bowled by Malinga in the 17th over.

Duminy pushed on to the end, however, joining Angelo Mathews for some boundaries late in the innings to propel them to 4-190 from their 20 overs.

Several Mumbai batsmen made starts in the chase but none scored more than 30 as Delhi's spinners did most of the damage.

Imran Tahir (3-22) and Amit Mishra (2-32) were the best of the bowlers, while Australia fast-bowler Nathan Coulter Nile took the key wicket of Rohit for 30 as Mumbai finished with 9-153 from their 20 overs.
