Rain halts Hamilton Test match

Pakistan's Babar Azam makes 90no before rain interrupts second Test against New Zealand

Rain in Hamilton has meant just one ball could be bowled in New Zealand's second innings against Pakistan.

The ball, from Mohammad Amir, to Jeet Raval, went through to the keeper and then the players left the field in the final session of the day.

Pakistan had earlier been dismissed for 216, 55 short of New Zealand's 271, built around Babar Azam's highest Test score of 90 not out.

Around 5pm a heavy squall hit Hamilton's Seddon Park with ground staff struggling to control the heavy covers in the wind.

WIth no let up in the rain it is unlikely the ground will be ready for play before 6pm.

Only 38.1 overs were possible on day three after the opening day was also hit by rain and 21 overs were played.

Tim Southee took 6-80 in Pakistan's innings and Neil Wagner 3-59.

Day one: Southee's lusty hitting prompts unusual field placement

Pakistan's only other scores of note were Sarfraz Ahmed's 41 and Sohail Khan's 37.

New Zealand lead the two-match series 1-0 after their eight-wicket victory in Christchurch.
