Australia's unbeaten run began against South Africa in March last year during the ICC Women's World T20, and they have an unblemished record from matches against Ireland, Pakistan, West Indies and England since.

England previously held the record, for their running run between October 2011 and September 2012.

Southern Stars skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and batted and for a second consecutive match the Ireland bowlers caused some problems for the Australia top-order, with Jonassen and Elyse Villani departing before Lanning was removed by 15-year-old bowler Lucy O'Reilly.

However Ellyse Perry turns the match back in Australia's favour, laying the foundation for the record-breaking win with 39 off 32, while Alex Blackwell (20no off 24), Jess Cameron (20 off 26) and Grace Harris (19 off 7) chipped in to help Australia reach 6-131 from their 20 overs.

Osborne (2-10) and Jonassen (2-8) then ensured Ireland were unable to chase the target despite a knock of 24 from captain Isobel Joyce, finishing 7-76.

The teams will meet in the final match of the T20 series at the YMCA Ground in Dublin on Saturday (9pm AEST) before the Southern Stars return to England for the first Women’s Ashes T20 in Chelmsford on August 26.

Australia need to win one of the three T20 matches against England to reclaim the Women's Ashes.
