Aussie duo combine for easy victory

Warner and Henriques build on brilliant spell from Rashid Khan as Sunrisers thrash Gujarat

The match in a tweet: Aussie, Aussie, Afghan! Warner and Henriques post unbeaten half-centuries to cruise past Gujarat after Rashid dominates once more.

The Aussie Pack: David Warner’s love affair with the Gujarat Lions continued with a second half-century from three attempts against them, and he found a partner in countryman Moises Henriques (52no), the two combining for an unbroken stand of 108 runs and seeing their side home with 27 balls to spare. Ben Cutting’s night was a little more subdued, leaking 29 from his three overs, while Aaron Finch’s struggles continued for Gujarat, undone by a Rashid Khan wrong-un right when his side desperately needed middle-order runs.

The opener: David Warner’s 33rd half century takes him to the top of the list for fifties scored in the IPL, now one ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir. The opener has scored a half-century in each of the last nine editions of the IPL and his record against the fledgling Gujarat Lions is remarkable, scoring 193 runs in three matches for only once out.

Ponting tips Warner to fire in the IPL

The Wrath of Khan: T20 cricket in 2017 has seen no-more prolific bowler than Afghani tweaker Rashid Khan. The 18-year-old has 23 wickets this year alone, becoming the first player from his nation to play in the IPL and has dominated the two matches he has featured in so far, claiming five scalps and becoming the joint-holder of the Purple Cap for most IPL wickets. But it's the sheer magnitude of his wickets he's taken that is the most remarkable; he trapped Brendon McCullum (5), Suresh Raina (5) and Aaron Finch (3) all in front with the match in the balance, well and truly swinging the game his side’s way. His captain was full of praise post-match, with Warner saying "he is a superstar in the making".

Warner impressed by the wrath of Khan

The rivalry: The Sunrisers Hyderabad have a stronghold over most opposition sides but the Gujarat Lions are yet to register a win against the defending champions. Each time Warner’s men have successfully chased, with tonight’s nine-wicket win the most dominant victory of the trio. Warner’s dominance is a highlight with the bat, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken two wickets in each fixture with the ball.

Kung Fu Pandya steers Mumbai to victory

The fallout: The unbeaten Sunrisers Hyderabad will head to the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday to face Mumbai Indians after they secured their first victory overnight, while Gujarat will look to register their first victory of IPL 10 against Steve Smith’s Rising Pune Supergiant on Saturday.
