Bulls thrash Tigers in Hobart

Milenko stars with five wickets as Queensland decimate Tasmania inside two days

Tasmania have collapsed to be all out for an abysmal 121 in their second innings handing Queensland a thumping Bupa Sheffield Shield victory in just two days.

At Hobart's Bellerive Oval on Tuesday the visitors won by an innings and 50 runs after themselves posting 320.

The Tigers' top order again failed to fire when they returned to the crease after the changeover.

Opener and former Test batsman Ed Cowan received a pair of ducks in the match.

He was out lbw in the second over from a Mark Steketee (4-33) delivery.

Fellow opener Jordan Silk (12) was the next to fall, bowled by Simon Milenko (5-15) who was the pick of the Queensland attack.

Tassie skipper Alex Doolan (15) and Ben Dunk (0) followed in quick succession and Beau Webster's (17) dismissal left the home side to rely on their middle and lower order.

Tim Paine (41) piled on a few runs including six boundaries but his dismissal, bowled by Milenko, sparked Tassie's downfall.

Earlier in the day Queensland posted a first-innings total of 320, spearheaded by captain James Hopes (98 off 79) who top-scored for his team.

After resuming on Tuesday at 2-135 Queensland lost early wickets to quickly find themselves at 6-165.

But big-hitting Hopes, batting at No.7, fired up proceedings and found support from Steketee (34) who is on his first-class debut.

Half centuries also went to Qld openers Charlie Hemphrey (58) and Joe Burns (68).

Jackson Bird (4-55) was the best of Tassie's bowlers, while Andrew Fekete (3-76) can take credit for Tuesday's trio of early wickets.

Queensland came to Hobart following their innings-and-13-run thumping of Victoria last round.
