The lights came on and the wickets tumbled on day one of the Sheffield Shield clash at the WACA Ground leaving Western Australia on top against South Australia.
Shaun Marsh made his return from a hamstring tear, making 73 to lead WA to a solid first innings as the Warriors declared at 9-271 in the final hour of play on Tuesday.
WA lost 6-60 after being 2-173 as the lights began to take over and the Redbacks bowlers took advantage of the pink ball.
Then Jason Behrendorff ripped through Redbacks openers Kelvin Smith (2) and Jake Weatherald (0), leaving the visitors reeling at 2-16 at stumps with Callum Ferguson unbeaten on 13 and nightwatchman Joe Mennie on one.
Earlier, Marsh and Michael Klinger put on a 110-run stand for the second wicket, making Redbacks' skipper Travis Head's decision to field appear unwise.
Marsh fell shortly before dinner, out to a sharp caught and bowled to Head, but insisted there were "no issues" with the hamstring complaint which has plagued him as he presses for selection in next week's series-opening Test against South Africa in Perth.
"I was a bit disappointed with my shot but apart from that it was good to get through. The hammy's all good," said Marsh, whose innings was ended by a spectacular return catch by Head.
"We'll worry about this game first and then we'll see where it takes us, but I'm happy that it's come through."
After Klinger fell for 61, it was a procession as the darkness fell at the WACA before some late hitting from Ryan Duffield (23) strengthened their first-innings score.
Mennie claimed 3-56 for South Australia with Chadd Sayers finishing with 2-51, Daniel Worrall 1-76 and Kane Richardson 1-52, wihle Head (2-22) chipped in with his off-spin.
