Bulls knock off unbeaten Warriors

WA through to Matador One-Day Cup final

The Alcohol. Think Again Western Warriors suffered a one-run defeat against the myFoot Dr Queensland Bulls but did enough to retain their hold on top spot, moving into Sunday's Matador One-Day Cup final.

WA ended at 4-265 but they had long since passed the 213-mark which was enough to deny Queensland the bonus point they needed to leapfrog into top spot.

The Bulls will now face the NSW Blues in Friday's preliminary final, and the Blues will be without skipper Moises Henriques for a month after injuring his calf against Victoria last Friday night.

The winner of the preliminary final take on WA at the SCG two days later.

WA looked on track to win the game at 1-191, but the loss of quick wickets slowed the run rate and ultimately proved costly.

Craig Simmons top-scored for WA, only to fall two runs short of a maiden one-day ton when he was bowled off the bowling of Jason Flores for 98.

Michael Klinger batted solidly for 66 and Marcus Harris made 43.

Earlier, player of the match Usman Khawaja and fellow Queensland opener Chris Hartley put on 151 for the first wicket.

The pair was coming off the back of a domestic record partnership of 280 set in the record-breaking win over Tasmania on Saturday.

Hartley was the first man out for 64, while Khawaja was eventually dismissed caught in the deep for 120.

Former Australia No.3 Khawaja is now comfortably the top run-scorer in the competition after passing the 500-run mark during his innings.

Without rested bowling spearhead Nathan Coulter-Nile, it was left to Nathan Rimmington to lead the fightback with 4-43 from his ten overs as Queensland ultimately reached 7-266.
