New Zealand fell to England for the second time in consecutive days

New Zealand have suffered a second loss to England to complete a stuttering preparation for the womens' World Twenty20 tournament in India.

A day after losing their first warm-up match by four wickets at Chennai, the White Ferns collapsed late in their run chase to be beaten by 20 runs at the same MA Chidambaram Stadium venue on Saturday.

England were dismissed for 126 in their final over before New Zealand succumbed for 106 with five balls to spare.

Only Sophie Devine (31 off 27 balls) made it past 17 in a disappointing chase which concluded with the last seven wickets falling for 28 runs.

The lower struggled to handle experienced England seamer Jennifer Gunn, who finished with 4-12 off 2.1 overs while spinner Danielle Hazell claimed a miserly 2-16.

New Zealand spinner Leigh Kasperek took 4-12 off 3.2 overs, receiving support from seamer Felicity Leydon-Davis (3-19 off 3) and some sharp fielding.

England opener Tammy Beaumont proved a thorn in New Zealand's side, batting through most of the innings to top-score with 56.

The White Ferns open their World T20 campaign against Sri Lanka in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The Sri Lankans completed preparations on Saturday with an eight-wicket loss to India at Bangalore.
