Renshaw charged for Code of Conduct breach

NPS batsman charged for showing dissent at the umpire's decision during a match in Mackay

National Performance Squad batsman Matt Renshaw has been reprimanded for an incident during his side's loss to India A on Sunday.

Renshaw took a brilliant catch diving forward to dismiss India A captain Manish Pandey for 10 in Mackay on Saturday.

But the 20-year-old was reported after he appeared to gesture towards the dismissed batsman having completed the sprawling effort off the bowling of Tom O'Donnell.

Renshaw was charged with a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct Article 2.1.7 – using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressing reaction upon dismissal during an international match – a level 1 offence.

Renshaw accepted the reprimand proposed by Match Referee Darryl Harper.

It was Renshaw's first level 1 office under the ICC's Code of Conduct, which is being utilised for the Quadrangular A series following agreement of all participating countries.

He is the second player to fall foul of the match referees this series, after Pandey was fined 25 per cent of his match free for showing dissent at a decision made during the previous encounter between his team and the NPS in Townsville.
