Michael and Kyly Clarke's big news

Australia skipper Michael Clarke is set to become a father for the first time, with his wife Kyly Clarke announcing her pregnancy via social media channel Instagram.

"Michael and I are extremely ecstatic to announce that we are expecting our first child," Kyly posted.

"Can't wait to meet baby Clarke."

Michael Clarke then followed up his wife's post with a tweet of his own.

The news comes on the eve of Australia's first Ashes Test against England in Cardiff, where the skipper will be hoping to get off to a good start in the highly-anticipated series.

It's not the first time the Clarkes have let the world know of massive personal news via social media, with the couple revealing their marriage via Michael Clarke's Twitter account in 2012.

Under Bupa Support Team Head Coach Darren Lehmann, the Australian Cricket Team has become a very family-friendly environment, and there have been a couple of recent additions to the travelling party which currently includes 28 children.

Ryan Harris and wife Cherie recently welcomed son Carter to their family while Shane and Lee Watson celebrated the birth of their second child, Matilda, in May.

There have also been two recent weddings; Shaun Marsh married Rebecca O'Donovan in April in Perth not long after David Warner and Candice Falzon tied the knot.

The Warners are still glowing following the birth of their daughter, Ivy Mae, last year.

And there are a few more weddings on the horizon with Australia fast bowler Peter Siddle proposing to Anna Weatherlake in April and Mitchell Starc engaged to Southern Stars wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy, while injured quick James Pattinson announced his engagement to Kayla Dickson this week.
