India's Shami, Saha to miss Chennai Test

India pair ruled out of final Test after failing to overcome injury concerns

India seamer Mohammed Shami and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha will continue to be out of action after the injured duo were ruled out of the final Test against England in Chennai.

The 26-year-old Shami played the first three Tests of the series but missed the fourth in Mumbai due to a sore knee, and has been advised rest and rehabilitation.

"He will be going to the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru to start his recovery program," the Indian cricket board (BCCI) said in a statement on Sunday.

Kohli joins greats with another double

Fast bowler Ishant Sharma, who hasn't played in the series and was released for his marriage before the fourth match, is expected to return to the squad for the Chennai Test, which starts on Friday.

Indian selectors had named paceman Shardul Thakur as a back-up for Shami for Mumbai.

Saha suffered a hamstring tendon injury in the second Test at Visakhapatnam and didn't play in Mohali and Mumbai.

He is undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA, the BCCI said.

Wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel replaced Saha for the hosts, who are up 2-0 in the five-match series.
