Injury scare for Coulter-Nile

WA allrounder forced from the field mid-over during his comeback Shield match

Nathan Coulter-Nile sent a scare through the Alcohol. Think Again Western Warriors camp after he was forced from the field midway through bowling an over during the Bupa Sheffield Shield clash against the West End Redbacks in Glenelg.

Coulter-Nile, who was playing in his first match back from injury, pulled up sore with a lower left-leg injury after the first delivery of his 14th over.

The 27-year-old bowled two more deliveries before walking off the ground, with Michael Hogan bowling the final three balls.

Coulter-Nile has been plagued with injury recent times.

He had to leave the field during Australia’s fourth Carlton Mid one-day international against South Africa at the MCG in November with a left-hamstring injury.

Coulter-Nile also had surgery on the same hamstring in June 2014 after injuring it while playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.

However, a WACA spokesman said the ailment was unrelated to any previous hamstring injury.

The allrounder will be assessed ahead of day two and is expected to bat and bowl later in the match.
