I'm no allrounder just yet: Coulter-Nile

Quick targets World Cup, Test debut this summer

He can strike some lusty blows with the bat, but Nathan Coulter-Nile knows it's his menace with the ball that will decide whether he gets a ticket to the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Coulter-Nile will get a golden chance to cement his spot in the Australian one-day set-up when he takes part in the five-match series against South Africa, starting in Perth on Friday.

The 27-year-old only has seven ODIs to his name, the last being in January when he snared 3-34 in a five-run win over England.

But he's hoping to become a permanent fixture in the team over the coming years, especially with the World Cup now just three months away.

Coulter-Nile is classified as an allrounder, but the West Australian sees himself as a paceman who can add a few handy runs with the bat.

"We've got allrounders coming out of my ears at the moment," Coulter-Nile said.

"Hopefully my bowling can keep coming along and I can nail my spot as a bowler, and then my batting can just be an added bonus.

"I haven't really nailed down my spot yet. I'm still feeling pretty nervous being amongst the boys.

"There's so many quicks coming around, you never really feel comfortable, which is a good thing. It keeps everyone on their toes."

Coulter-Nile enters the series against South Africa in hot form after starring for WA during their Matador One-Day cup triumph.

The right-hander also snared four wickets and posted 64 with the bat in WA's Sheffield Shield win over Tasmania two weeks ago.

Although Coulter-Nile is desperate to earn World Cup selection, he has also set his sights on breaking into the Test team after coming close last summer.
