Pakistan recall Gul for ODI series

The 32-year-old pace bowler makes a surprise return to the national team to face England and Ireland with the white ball

Pakistan has recalled fast bowler Umar Gul for its ODI series against England and Ireland as seven players from the previous one-day squad have been left out by new selector Inzanam-ul-Haq.

The 32-year-old Gul last played a one-day international against Bangladesh in 2015. He went to New Zealand in January where he played only in the Twenty20 format.

Pakistan is scheduled to play two ODIs in Ireland on August 18 and 20 in Dublin, before a five-match ODI series against England, starting in Southampton on August 24.

The selectors have also included rookie 22-year-old Hasan Ali after the right-arm paceman performed well for Pakistan 'A' during their series against the England Lions developmental squad..

Left-handed opener Sami Aslam has been rewarded for his half centuries in the third Test against England.
