Harris to make Shield return: report

Paceman aiming to be fit for first Test against India

Ryan Harris is set to ramp up his quest for selection in Australia's Test side this summer, with the paceman reportedly to return to Bupa Sheffield Shield cricket this weekend.

The Courier Mail is reporting the right-armer will be named for the myFoot Dr Queensland Bulls for their match against NSW Blues, starting on Sunday in Brisbane.

If selected, it will be Harris's first senior match since he underwent knee surgery in March immediately following Australia's series victory in South Africa.

The 35-year-old played 12 Tests in a row between July last year and the match against the Proteas in Cape Town, taking 56 wickets as Australia regained the Ashes and temporarily displaced South Africa as the No.1 Test nation in the world.

Harris is hoping to get enough bowling under his belt in time for the four-Test series against India, which starts at the Gabba on December 4.

Having slowly built up his workload - Harris told cricket.com.au in September that his return to the bowling crease was initially restricted to just 18 deliveries at a time - he returned to match practice via Brisbane's grade competition and last week played represented Queensland in the Futures League.

He finished with match figures of 3-94 from 27 overs and hit 54 with the bat as his side lost the match outright having won on the first innings.
