Harris granted second Shield hitout

Bulls welcome back Khawaja from injury

Ryan Harris has been selected in the my FootDr Queensland Bulls side to play the Tasmanian Tigers next week after he asked for a second Bupa Sheffield Shield hit-out before the start of Australia's Commonwealth Bank Test Series with India.

Harris impressed in his first-class comeback from knee surgery this week, taking match figures of 7-118 and hitting a run-a-ball 50 in the Bulls' 188-run win over the NSW Blues at the Gabba.

But the hard-marking 35-year-old insisted he needed more match practice to cope with the rigours of Test cricket.

The Bulls have named Harris in a 13-man squad for the clash at Allan Border Field, starting Tuesday.

Former Test No.3 Usman Khawaja has also been named for the first time since he suffered a broken finger during the Matador Cup last month.

Khawaja will test the injury in Brisbane grade cricket this weekend and Bulls coach Stuart Law is optimistic the left-hander will return against the Tigers.

"He's been back with us at training and going okay, so hopefully he can test himself out in grade cricket and be right to go next week," Law said.

Khawaja was one of the stars of the Matador Cup, smacking 532 runs at a strike rate of 99 and an average of 74.
