Watson, Hazlewood in Blues squad

Aussie World Cup heroes set to return to action after being named in the NSW squad for October's Matador BBQs One-Day Cup

Ashes tourists and World Cup winners Shane Watson and Josh Hazlewood will make their return to cricket next month after both were named in the NSW Blues' 14-man squad for the Matador BBQs One-Day Cup.

The Blues will boast nine players with international experience despite Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Peter Nevill, Stephen O'Keefe and Mitchell Starc all away on national duty for the Qantas Tour of Bangladesh.

Hazlewood returns to action after he was ruled out of the final stages of the Ashes tour with 'minor niggles' and then subsequently omitted from the Bangladesh tour to focus on preparing for the home summer.

The 24-year-old began last season's one-day tournament with a stunning 7-36, the best white-ball bowling figures for NSW that helped spark his rise into the Australian Test XI against India before going on to open the bowling in the host nation's successful World Cup outing.

The Bendemeer product will combine with Doug Bollinger, Gurinder Sandhu and Sean Abbott to form a strong pace attack, while South Africa-born off-spinner Chris Green will provide the slow-bowling option in the absence of Lyon and O'Keefe.

Moises Henriques will lead the side during the three-week tournament after recovering from a sickening collision with Surrey teammate Rory Burns during the English domestic season.

Hazlewood claims five in an ODI win last summer

The 28-year-old allrounder made a welcome return to cricket earlier this month to play in the NSW City versus Country match, three months after he had his jaw wired shut and underwent three separate surgeries to repair the damage.

NSW will be out to break their drought in the 50-over format with their first title since the 2005-06 season, of which Henriques is the only remaining member.

The Blues have finished runners-up in each of the past two seasons, but enter this season's campaign with a new coach in former Ireland skipper Trent Johnston.

Experienced batsman Ed Cowan is also set to make his return in Blues colours after making the move from Tasmania in the off-season. His last one-day game for NSW was in December 2008.

Henriques' men begin their 50-over quest against the new Cricket Australia XI at Bankstown Oval on October 5.
