Aussies return for Shield clashes

A number of returning Chappell-Hadlee squad members will line up for their states in the Sheffield Shield matches beginning this Sunday

A host of Australia one-day squad members from the Qantas Tour of New Zealand will return to their state sides for the upcoming round of day-night Sheffield Shield matches this Sunday.

George Bailey, Matthew Wade, Glenn Maxwell, Scott Boland and Adam Zampa will all line up for their domestic teams on Sunday following Australia’s 2-1 defeat to the Black Caps in the recent Chappell-Hadlee series.

After his surprise exclusion from the World Twenty20 squad, wicketkeeper Matthew Wade will return to captain the Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers in their top-of-the-table clash with the West End Redbacks.

Quick Single: Updated pink ball to be trialled in Shield

Maxwell, Boland and Marcus Stoinis, who was called up to Australia’s ODI squad but didn’t play, join Wade as inclusions in the squad, along with fast-bowler Jake Reed.

Zampa will lead South Australia’s bowling attack, who will be missing injured quick Kane Richardson and Test squad member Chadd Sayers.

There was still no room for Cameron Boyce in the my FootDR Queensland Bulls’ squad after fellow leggie Mitch Swepson impressed with six wickets in last week’s victory over SA.

The Bulls take on the Tasmanian Tigers at the Gabba, who have brought back skipper George Bailey at the expense of Alex Doolan, with all-rounder Evan Gulbis and uncapped fast-bowler Cameron Wheatley also included in the squad.

Steve O’Keefe, who injured his calf playing for Australia at the SCG against the West Indies last month, returns for New South Wales in their match at the WACA ground in Perth.

The Blues will play the Alcohol. Think Again Western Warriors again in a rematch of last round’s drawn match in New Zealand.

This will be the second round of Shield matches played under lights with pink balls this summer following the inaugural day-night Test match against New Zealand in Adelaide earlier this summer.
