Lanning excited by fresh Stars faces

McGrath, Wellington added to Southern Stars squad as ODI series heads to Coffs Harbour

A new location and two new faces will freshen up the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars squad heading into their final two one-day internationals against South Africa, says captain Meg Lanning.

The Australian squad flew to Coffs Harbour today ahead of Saturday's fourth ODI against the Proteas, joined by South Australian pair Amanda Wellington and Tahlia McGrath who were yesterday added to the touring group.

Wellington, a 19-year-old leg-spinner, is a strong chance to make her international debut over the coming week, with Stars leggie Kristen Beams under an injury cloud after fracturing a finger at North Sydney Oval.

Quick Single: Perry, Jonassen rise in ICC rankings

Allrounder Ellyse Perry sat out the third ODI with a groin concern and while she is expected to be fit for the final two matches, 21-year-old allrounder McGrath will be ready and waiting should an opportunity arise.

"Amanda's been a really good performer in state cricket, she's a wicket taker who's had good performances this year," Lanning said before her team's departure for Coffs Harbour on Friday.

"McGrath is a consistent allrounder who shows a lot of potential. We're really excited to have those girls join us and hopefully they can take their opportunity.

How the Stars conquered the world

"We haven't decided what the team will look like for the next game, but they're definitely strengthening our squad and there's every chance they'll get an opportunity.

"We've had them at camps every now and then.

"We know how excited we were to come in for our first tours, so they'll bring good energy and be a good lifter for us coming into the last two games."

Quick Single: Stars closer to finding 'perfect game': Bolton

The Southern Stars have never played in the coastal NSW town before, but while the conditions are an unknown, Lanning said her team was looking forward to the challenge.

"I've nice to take the women's game to different people and I've never played in Coffs before, so hopefully the crowd gets behind us," she said.

"I don't know anything about (the ground) really, we've got training tomorrow so we'll have a look and see what's about."

Australia have a 3-nil lead heading into the final two matches in Coffs Harbour, with the final two games to be played on November 27 and 29.

Quick Wrap: Advantage Australia after day one tussle

Despite convincing 66-run and nine-wicket victories in the last two matches, Lanning says there's still plenty for her team to work on, particularly in the bowling department.

"We've still got areas to improve on," she added.

"I thought our fielding was really good the other night, we aimed to outfield the opposition.

"With the ball we'll be trying to take early wickets and be consistent with the lengths we're trying to bowl.

"We can still improve there. We've played some good cricket, but we're still searching for that perfect game, so hopefully that'll come in the next two matches."

Entry is FREE and both games will be streamed live and free on cricket.com.au, the Cricket Australia Live app and on the Southern Stars Facebook page.
