Lakmal fined for 'dangerous' bowling

Sri Lanka fast bowler Suranga Lakmal has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council for showing 'no remorse' after he bowled two beam balls in the win over England in Wellington on Sunday.

Lakmal was removed from the Sri Lanka attack by umpire Rod Tucker in the 50th over of England's innings after the right-hander bowled a second consecutive high full-pitched ball to wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler.

“While making my decision, I took into account that it is was dangerous and unfair bowling, there were no mitigating circumstances, and there was no remorse from the bowler,” ICC match referee said on the decision. 

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to breaching rules related to 'conduct contrary to the spirit of the game'.
