New Ashes campaign hits our screens

Steve Smith and Stuart Broad talk the long route to the middle for the Ashes battle in a new commercial airing now

Australia captain Steve Smith and England bowler Stuart Broad face off in a new television commercial for next summer's hotly anticipated Ashes battle.

The commercial starts with Smith strapping on his helmet and heading to the middle. En route from the SCG dressing room he walks down the main street of a suburban town and a red dusty outback trail.

Meanwhile, in the gloom of middle England, Stuart Broad starts his journey to the top of his mark through the rolling green pastures.

Smith walks through an outback Aboriginal community, Broad heads past an inner city café and across Westminster Bridge towards the Houses of Parliament and the Big Ben clock tower.

Smith crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge and through the sands of Bondi Beach.

Ultimately, both find themselves in the middle of the cricket field.

"They don't walk out for their team, they walk out for their country," former captain and bona fide Ashes legend Steve Waugh intones.

The campaign, titled "Our Greatest Test" brings to life the scale of the Ashes contest, the history and passion it evokes amongst supporters and the link to the cultural identities of both Australia and England, a Cricket Australia release said.

The reimagined walk from the dressing room to the crease, the campaign showcases the supporters that will be cheering on the players through every ball, wicket, and shot during the series.

The campaign showcases the passion and anticipation associated with the Ashes and is a rally cry to fans around Australia to get behind the team this summer, said Cricket Australia Executive General Manager of Broadcasting, Digital Media & Commercial, Ben Amarfio.

"There is no sporting rivalry quite like the Ashes in bringing our nation together in support of the 11 players who take to the field, and our advertising campaign for the series brings this to life," said Amarfio.
