England duo undergo surgery

Broad, Prior begin rehabilitation

England pace bowler Stuart Broad and wicketkeeper Matt Prior are set to start their rehabilitation programs after both players underwent operations to cure long-standing injuries.

The England and Wales Cricket Board issued an update on Broad and Prior's progress following their surgery on Thursday.

Following surgery on the patella tendon in his knee, Broad, 28, is hoping to be ready in time to join England's World Cup preparations in a tri-series against hosts Australia and India in January.

On the day he announced he would go under the knife following the Test series against India, Broad claimed 6-25 in 13.4 overs on the first day of the fourth Test at Manchester.

Prior, 32, has missed much of this season's international schedule, having decided after the Test defeat against India at Lord's in July that he was no longer able to compete at the highest level until his left Achilles problem was addressed.

He is set to begin a rehabilitation and recovery program with England and Sussex over the winter period, the board said.
