The world's richest cricketer

Forbes names top 100 highest paid athletes

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only cricketer to feature on Forbes’ World’s Highest Paid Athletes top 100 list.

Coming in at No.22, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman is reportedly worth US$30m, broken down into salary ($4m) and endorsements ($26).

Golfer Adam Scott is the sole Australian on the list, sneaking in at No.95 with $17.7m, behind top ranked boxer Floyd Mayweather ($105m), Portuguese football star Christiana Ronaldo ($80m) and four-time NBA MVP LeBron James ($72.3m).

What about our Aussie cricketers? According to Business Review Weekly, 10 cricketers made the top 50 Australian Sports Earners for 2013, with Shane Watson’s AU$6m placing him at No.6, just ahead of skipper Michael Clarke ($5.5m) at No.7.

Only three women made the Forbes list, all tennis players, in Maria Sharapova (No.34), Li Na (No.41) and Serena Williams (No.55).

Former world No.1 golfer Tiger Woods earns the most from endorsements, collecting an incredulous US$55m of his total $61.2m, pipping James ($53m), tennis ace Roger Federer ($52m) and long-time rival Phil Mickleson ($48m) when it comes to sponsorship dollars.
