Maxwell dropped for fourth ODI

Australia will bat first in Bengaluru after making two changes from the XI that lost in Indore

Australia have dropped allrounder Glenn Maxwell and recalled wicketkeeper Matthew Wade for their fourth one-day international against India in Bengaluru.

Australia have won the toss and elected to bat, with Adam Zampa also returning to the tourists' XI in place of the injured Ashton Agar, who returned home with a broken finger earlier this week.

Wade was axed for the third ODI in Indore, with Peter Handscomb taking the gloves, but the Tasmanian has reclaimed his place behind the stumps in Bengaluru.

Maxwell makes way having scored 39, 14 and 5 in the opening three matches.

With India having already secured the series with two matches still to play, the hosts made three changes to their line-up from Sunday's match in Indore, with Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami coming in for Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

After 11 defeats from their past 13 ODIs away from home (including two wash-outs), the Aussies are facing the prospect of finishing the series as the world's fourth-ranked side if India are able to complete a series sweep.

Tonight's clash will bring up a century of one-day internationals for David Warner, who debuted almost eight years ago as a dashing 22-year-old without any first-class cricket to his name.

"It's a significant milestone for myself and my family," Warner said on Wednesday.

"I'm extremely proud of where I am today, coming from playing a Twenty20 game at the MCG to being called up a couple of games later to represent Australia in the ODI format.

"I never thought it would come so fast.

"I learnt a lot over the early stages of my career of how to play the (50-over) game."

Australia will be hoping they can continue to rely on the batting form of allrounder Marcus Stoinis, who enters Thursday's fourth ODI in Bengaluru boasting a career batting average of almost 95 from six matches, which has been boosted by unbeaten knocks of 62 and 27 in the past two games.

Having successfully proven that his unbeaten 146 in Auckland earlier this year was far from a one-off, his assuredness against a top-quality Indian attack in this series has put him in contention to take the No.6 spot in the Test side this summer.

"The only way I can answer is (to say) I'm enjoying the pressure," he said when asked if feels comfortable at the top level. "I'm enjoying the opportunities and I'm seeing them as opportunities.

"I'm obviously still young in my international career and I think that's where my head is at the moment.

"The pressure can definitely get to you, but at the moment the way I'm going about it I'm enjoying the chance to be put under pressure and the chance to do something good for the team."
