West Indies lose duo for World Twenty20

The West Indies have received a big blow ahead of the World Twenty20 in India

The world's top ranked Twenty20 bowler Sunil Narine and star allrounder Kieron Pollard have withdrawn from the West Indies squad for the World Twenty20 starting next month in India.

The West Indies Cricket Board said Pollard, who has been replaced in the 15-man squad by Carlos Brathwaite, pulled out "citing a lack of sufficient progress in his rehabilitative work" following a knee injury sustained in December.

Narine is currently banned from bowling after the International Cricket Council deemed in November that his action was illegal, because all variations of his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under regulations.

A replacement for Narine has not yet been named.

The West Indies open the World T20 against England on March 16 in Mumbai, before further group games against Sri Lanka, South Africa and a qualifier.
