WA player charged by police

Pair withdrawn from 2nd XI match

A Western Australian player has been suspended by the WACA after he was arrested by Queensland Police early on Wednesday morning.

Tom Triffitt was charged with two counts of stealing and one count of wilful damage, and has been withdrawn from WA’s Toyota Futures League match against Queensland.

Team-mate Tim Armstrong was also stood down from the fixture but was not charged by police.

The WACA released a statement saying that, while management would make no further comment on the incident until it was fully investigated, it would meet with Triffitt and Armstrong before deciding on a course of action.

Both players have returned to Western Australia.
