Bio

Stuart Broad broke into England’s team at the age of 20, making his one-day international debut against Pakistan in August 2006.

The son of former England opening batsman Chris Broad, Stuart was given a call-up to the Test team on the 2007 tour of Sri Lanka.

The quick played a key role in the 2009 Ashes including 5-37 at The Oval in the decider and was subsequently named one of Wisden’s five cricketers of the year.

His impressive performances continued in 2010, including helping England secure the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean, before a torn abdominal muscle in late 2010 ended Broad’s involvement in an Ashes tour and threatened his World Cup preparations.

He regained fitness in time for the tournament but only managed three games before a side strain forced him out.

Broad has remained an important part of England’s line-up despite various injury problems, including knee problems throughout 2014 which resulted in knee surgery in September and saw the bowler ruled out of England's tour of Sri Lanka.

Broad was instrumental in England's Ashes victory in 2015, with his 8-15 in Nottingham a career-best performance.

He is now second on the all-time wicket-takers list for England, behind team-mate James Anderson.
