Alex Gregory is one of the youngest players in Australia to currently hold a rookie contract. At just 17 years of age, the bowling all-rounder is set to join his new teammates when he completes his studies in November.

The rookie sensation has already proven himself on the biggest stage in the junior ranks. He was a key member of the Australian side that made the final of the under-19 World Cup.

He started the tournament with economical showings against New Zealand and Pakistan, before picking up bags of wickets in his next two outings.

The Nepalese batsmen struggled to handle Gregory, who finished the match with figures of 2/12.

Things got even better in the next game against Ireland, with Gregory claiming international best figures of 3/13 to help seal the emphatic Australian victory.

Despite keeping it tight in the next two games, Gregory couldn’t pick up another wicket, and finished the final with figures of 0/40.

Importantly though, he was there at the end to help guide Australia to victory against South Africa in the semi-final.

Gregory will be keen to work on his all-round skills, which have seen him represent Australia at the World Cup, as well as South Australia in the under-19 national carnival.
