Profile

With Ryan Harris spending the majority of the past few seasons on the sidelines, Ben Cutting has been the spearhead in an often youthful Queensland attack.

The 26 year has old has been one of the most consistent performers in Australian domestic cricket, and was rewarded with his debuts in both forms of the white ball game.

This followed his near selection in 2011/12 against New Zealand, where he was pipped at the last moment by Mitchell Starc.

It took a couple of years for Cutting to establish himself in the Sheffield Shield, but it was certainly worth the wait.

The 2009/10 season saw him finish the competition as the leading wicket taker with 46 scalps.

Cutting’s dream year included a career best 6/37 against Tasmania, as well as a crucial 5/82 against a star-studded NSW side.

Three more bags of five wickets have taken his tally to 119 wickets from 30 appearances. Injury prevented him from playing in the 2012/13 Shield final, which saw the Bulls draw with the Tigers.

His form with the white ball has seen him represent his country on five occasions. He removed Dilshan on debut, before taking three middle-order wickets against the West Indies at the SCG.

Cutting went wicketless in his two t20 international matches last summer, which was disappointing given his performances for the Brisbane Heat.

The 26 year old had a good Big Bash campaign, taking 2/9 against the Sydney Sixers and 2/31 against the Perth Scorchers in the final.

Although he can be a bit expensive, Cutting has been a strike bowler in the Ryobi Cup, and was unlucky to miss his side’s thrilling win in the final against the Bushrangers.
