Having started his career in his native Queensland, wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Dunk found greater opportunities down south in Tasmania.
His time at the Bulls was not without some highlights, however, including an unbeaten 115 off 124 in a one-day match against Western Australia and an undefeated knock of 70 from just 40 balls in the 2009-10 Big Bash.
Dunk’s big break came in the 2013-14 Big Bash League, when the left-hander plundered 395 runs for Hobart Hurricanes to be named Player of the Tournament.
He posted 96 against Sydney Thunder and made scores of 87 and 67 against Brisbane Heat, with the latter a tournament-record half-century from just 20 balls.
His breakthrough tournament earned him two lucrative contracts overseas; with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, and Antigua Hawksbills in the Caribbean Premier League.
