Bio

With a combination of swashbuckling batting and seam bowling, Ben Stokes has shown plenty of promise.

The 23-year-old was part of the England under-19 squad for the 2009 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup and made his debut for Durham the same year.

An excellent 2010 season for Durham, where he scored 798 runs at an average of 44, saw Stokes included in the England Performance Programme Squad.

He was chosen for the England Lions side which played Sri Lanka in 2011 and his full England debut soon followed against Ireland.

Stokes played a further four ODIs against India before he was sidelined after finger surgery.

His next opportunity for England came in 2013, when he was named in the one-day international squad for a series against Ireland and Australia, before being included in the squad for the 2013-14 Ashes tour.

His second Test at the WACA included a memorable 120 – his highest Test score to date.

Stokes was recruited by Melbourne Renegades for BBL|04.

Good form for the England Lions in early 2015 was enough for Stokes to earn a recall to the England Test squad for the West Indies series, where he played all three Tests.
