Bio

With more than 160 one-day internationals, two ICC Cricket World Cup appearances and captaincy stints under his belt, Brendan Taylor is a crucial part of the Zimbabwe line-up.

The batsman, who was captain of both the Test and ODI teams from 2011 to mid-2014, when he handed over the ODI captaincy to Elton Chigumbura, made his way on to the international scene 2004, with an ODI debut against Sri Lanka.

His 2007 World Cup campaign included 87 runs across three matches, including a half-century against West Indies, but his 2011 tournament was a standout. Taylor scored 166 runs in six matches, including a knock of 80 against Sri Lanka, to be Zimbabwe’s leading batsman.

Taylor followed that performance by becoming the first Zimbabwe batsman to score successive ODI centuries in October 2011 against New Zealand.

He has six centuries and 31 fifties to his name in the 50-over game, while his 23-match Test career has featured four hundreds.
