Bio

The veteran of the limited-overs attack was ruled out of the recent
South African tour with appendicitis, having helped Australia to a
comprehensive one-day series win in Sri Lanka. Retired from Test
cricket in 2010 as Australia's fourth-highest wickettaker behind Shane
Warne, Glenn McGrath and Dennis Lillee citing the tremendous strain on
his body. His last Test was the Boxing Day fixture of 2008 against
South Africa, when he broke his foot. He tried to revive his career
for the 2009 Ashes but broke down again during a tour match before the
first Test, and eventually resolved to scale down his international
commitments. Won the Allan Border medal in 2008 after leading the
attack in home series against India and Sri Lanka. Took 20 wickets at
33.20 to help trounce England 5-0 in the 2006-07 Ashes, and was brave
in defeat in the 2005 series. Only one Australian, Glenn McGrath, has
taken more wickets in ODIs. Exploded onto the scene in the 1999 Boxing
Day Test against India, taking five wickets on debut.
