It is safe to say Scotland Cricket is pleased Brisbane-born Hamish Gardiner holds both Australian and British passports.
The talented batsman, who moved to Edinburgh in 2013 after finishing his university degree in Australia, quickly made an impression on the local cricket scene.
Scoring plenty of domestic runs in the months following his arrival in the United Kingdom, Gardiner was quickly elevated to the national team and played his first match for Scotland in August 2013 against Surrey.
One month later, Gardiner played his first one-day international - fittingly, against Australia – in Edinburgh.
His best ODI score to date is 96, scored against Afghanistan in January 2015.
