There will be a lot of pressure on Australia’s first “Cricket Superstar” when he makes his debut for the Victoria Bushrangers.
The 22 year old was a deserved winner of the Foxtel run competition, earning him a rookie contract with the Bushrangers.
Before he was famous, Holland represented Victoria in an under-19 carnival in Canberra, where he impressed with his all-round skills.
Fresh from his competition win, “Dutchy” struck 69 against the ACT in the Futures League.
The knock saw him named 12th man for the Bushrangers ahead of their trip to North Sydney Oval.
A couple of quiet games followed, before he took two wickets against the NSW under-23 side, and added 29 with the bat.
Currently batting in the lower middle-order and bowling third or fourth change, it would be good to see Holland focus on one of the two in a bid to establish himself as a genuine first-class cricketer.
With plenty of natural ability, and age on his side, Holland should decide if he wants to be a batsman who can bowl, or a bowler who can bat.
Then the rest of Australia can see just why he was named our next Cricket Superstar.
