Bio

A versatile allrounder, James Hopes was a regular feature of Australia’s limited overs sides for the better part of five years in the early 2000s.

An underrated member of Australia’s 50-over line-up, Hopes has three international half-centuries to his name and best bowling figures of 5-14, which helped Australia avoid the embarrassment of losing to Ireland in 2010.

Hopes has led Queensland admirably since taking over as captain before the 2010-11 season, guiding them to the Sheffield Shield title in 2012 and two Ryobi Cup crowns.

His form for the Bulls has improved dramatically as his international career has winded down, winning Queensland Shield Player of the Year award twice in three seasons.

As of the 2014-15 season, Hopes also held the record for the most wickets in Australian domestic one-day cricket.
