Jay Lenton

Left Hand bat

Born in
Central Coast, NSW
North Sydney

New South Wales appear to have plenty of depth in the wicket-keeping department, with Jay Lenton joining a squad already featuring the likes of Brad Haddin, Peter Nevill and Ryan Carters.

The 22 year old has been on fire with North Sydney in Grade cricket. Lenton smashed 540 runs at 49.09 to finish with one of the best records for any keeper.

He also added 38 dismissals, capping off a stellar year in First-grade.

Lenton featured in two Futures League matches last season against Victoria and Queensland.

He missed out with the bat against the Bulls, but added 36 in the first innings against the Bushrangers.

Lenton also held on to ten catches in his first two outings for the Blues to suggest he is more than capable should he be called upon in 2013/14.

While it is unlikely for Lenton to play any first-class cricket next season, the youngster has an excellent opportunity to further his game in the second tier competition.

Strong performances should put pressure on his more experienced teammates, while continued success for North Sydney could see him used as a specialist batsman.
