A right-arm fast-medium bowler, Max Sorensen was born in Johannesburg but has lived in Dublin since moving to Ireland to play for the Hills in the Leinster League in 2007.
Sorensen was called up to the Ireland squad for the tour to Kenya in February 2012 and made his first-class debut against Kenya in the Intercontinental Cup.
His first one-day international appearance was against England in September 2013. Sorensen was called into Ireland’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 squad in mid-January after Tim Murtagh was ruled out with injury.
At the time of his inclusion, Sorensen had played eight ODIs, with a high-score of 31 and best figures of 4-40, taken against Scotland in September 2014.
