Meg Lanning is fast becoming a superstar of women’s cricket in this country. Despite only being 20 years of age, the Victorian has made had a big impact at both domestic and international level.
In only her second ODI with the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars, Lanning cemented her spot in the team after scoring an unbeaten century against England.
At the 2012 ICC Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, Lanning finished as the third-highest run scorer for the tournament. She also became the first T20 player to score over 30 runs in five consecutive T20 internationals. Lanning’sachievement was rewarded after she was named in the Team of the Tournament.
At the domestic level, Lanning has enjoyed great success as a member of the VicSpirit team and claimed individual accolades of the WNCL and WT20 Player of the Series in 2011-12.
Lanning’s impressive form has continued into the 2012-13 WNCL, scoring a record 175 off 143 balls against the ACT Meteors in early November.
